Tender chicken thighs and crisp broccoli florets are coated in a savory sauce with hints of ginger, garlic, and a touch of heat from crushed red pepper flakes. Ingredients
  • 2 teaspoons canola oil
  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken thighs (cut into 3/4-inch pieces)
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch (divided)
  • ¾ cups onion (thinly sliced)
  • 2 teaspoons fresh ginger (minced)
  • 4 cloves garlic (thinly sliced)
  • 5 cups broccoli florets
  • 3/4 cups water
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon light brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
  1. Before starting, ensure you have all the necessary ingredients ready.

  2. In a large non-stick skillet, heat the canola oil over medium-high heat until it appears shimmery, which should take about 2 minutes. While the oil heats up, in a medium bowl, combine the chicken pieces with 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, making sure the chicken is evenly coated.

  3. Once the oil is hot, add the cornstarch-coated chicken to the skillet in a single layer. Cook the chicken, stirring frequently, until it becomes crisp and fully cooked, which should take approximately 6 minutes. Next, add the sliced onions to the skillet and continue cooking, stirring often, until the onions turn translucent, about 1 minute. Then, add the minced ginger and sliced garlic cloves to the skillet, and cook for another minute, stirring constantly, until the mixture becomes fragrant. Once done, transfer the chicken mixture to a plate and set it aside.
